About your role
As our Head of Public Affairs, you will be responsible for managing and shaping the public image of our brand and reputation. In this leadership position, you will spearhead the development and execution of strategies that enhance our reputation and foster positive relationships.
These include but are not limited to, relationships with:
Civil servants and public authorities.
Media outlets.
Key internal stakeholders.
You will lead the public affairs team while working closely with other members of the Cooltra team.
What You'll Do
Develop and execute the organisation’s public affairs and government relations strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
Monitor political, regulatory, legislative, and policy developments at relevant local levels, national and international leves.
Provide senior leadership with timely analysis, advice, and recommendations on public policy and political issues affecting the organisation.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with government officials, policymakers, regulators, political stakeholders, industry associations, think tanks and other external partners.
Lead advocacy strategies on priority policy and regulatory issues, including stakeholder mapping, coalition building, and direct engagement.
Represent the organisation in meetings, consultations, industry forums, conferences, and other high-level external settings.
Develop policy positions, briefing papers, consultation responses, talking points, presentations, and executive briefings.
Coordinate public affairs activity across business units and ensure consistent positioning and messaging.
Work closely with Communications, Legal and Compliance and other relevant teams.
Identify emerging political and regulatory risks and opportunities and develop appropriate response strategies.
Manage relationships with external advisers, public affairs agencies, consultants, and industry associations where appropriate.
Ensure all government and political engagement is conducted ethically, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws and internal policies.
Identifying and developing new opportunities to participate in projects and tender processes, as well as managing and consolidating awarded projects, with the aim of ensuring their continuity and maximising the chances of renewal.
The preparation of sustainability reports, a task that involves not only drafting the report, but also the collection, analysis, verification and presentation of information relating to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
· 8 years of work experience in public affairs, public relations, or related roles.
· Proven knowledge of local, national, and international government and legislative processes.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Proficiency in media monitoring tools.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· The ability to cultivate and sustain relationships across a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
